Every time I read about Jephthahs tragic vow that he made to The Lord in exchange for victory over his enemy, my heart feel very sorrowful. At times like Jephthah, in the heat of emotion or personal turmoil, we make promises to God, an when it is time to honor them after the reality of things cool down the keeping of the vow becomes a problem, pain an even frustration. God is saying to us, be careful of the vows we make because He takes them seriously. He is not impress with the promise of tomorrow but the obedience of today.
