Every tuesday night for going on two years now, I have been meeting with my band mates #UnionSea, the three of us, to prepare something really fantastic. It involves guitars of the electric and acoustic style. Mostly fender amps, all sorts of tones and effects. Vibrato, echo, slide. For bass, when I wasnt playing the white on black Fender Jazz Bass, Nick Büchmîllēr provided the foundation using a classic analog synth, the JUNO6, and then polished it off with sweet Fender Rhodes tones, miced up with the Bluebird. A little compression, some verb...like icing. Ear candy drizzled all over this album. Dan Mulhern provides some of the most classic & EPIC sounding guitar parts ever captured on a rock album. From haunting to entrancing to balls out rocking. Distortions and other weird sound effects combined with the DM1 machine. The result, a distinct Trent Reznor influence. It was a dream come true to work with the very highest caliber musicians, mics, and preamps in the world, and I had fun learning how to push all of us to our limits. Singing this album was a profound breakthrough experience for me. It was exhausting, scary, painful, overwhelming... I remained committed to excellence, rawness, authenticity. Its something I have dreamed of doing since becoming obsessed with Radiohead OK Computer in early 2000s which was the same time I met the best drummer in the world, well I finally teamed up with him Gene Glenn. Wait till you hear this drumming! As far as singing-songwriting goes, this album was like receiving wings to traverse the universe as I please, and it was like receiving teeth, like birth pains. It was the most challenging experience of my life that I have ever seen through to the end, so I am blessed, humbled, and grateful for all I learned as a result. One of those things being, the sheer power of three dudes who are relatively smart and simply dedicate one night a week to creating something radical. In my opinion #TheTwoMoons sounds something like #Radiohead meets #NIN, yet holds its own distinct persona. Its loaded with character and drama.
