Everyone has a favorite food memory right? Mine is kosher dill pickles so sour that your lips curl but still so tasty that you want to eat a whole jar...And even though I have found many a good pickle in Europe, from French Cornichons to Dutch semi-sweet, still I long for these salt pickles of my childhood (the kind you could buy out of the vat....) WELLL There is this great pickle store in Amsterdam called De Leeuw deleeuwzuur.nl/index.php who make amazing old fashioned pickles they have something close to what I wanted. When I mentioned my dream pickle to the woman she told me how I could add some dill and garlic and change the composition of the salt water...well -- I just had a pickle epiphany..they taste exactly like what I missed...oh no...have to hide them or else I may eat them all tonight !!!
