Everyone has heard of what happened on 11 September 2001 and 7 July 2005 - but how know what happened on 11 July 1995? On this day in 1995, more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslims, mainly men and boys, in and around the town of Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina, were killed by units of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) under the command of General Ratko Mladić. The mass murder was described by the Secretary General of the United Nations as the worst crime on European soil since the Second World War. Take a moment today to remember the victims in your prayers for what was truly a horrific crime - something so severe that families are still affected by it today. Just because the media does not talk about it, does not mean we forget about it also.
