Everyone is saying, Go, cast your vote. Its your democratic right, privilege and above all, DUTY. But whom should I vote? Shouldnt I be convinced of the consequence of my decision? My vote is my support to the candidate and the party s/he belongs to, for the national cause. Ideally, the process demands that I choose the one who I think should be better than the others for the job. Phew, here we are limited to thinking who is the lesser devil. I am not going out to cast my vote. My conscience doesnt allow me to vote for a devil. But that wont stop the country from having a new government. It would, it should, and as far as I can see, it would be less harmful if it is either UPA or NDA (in preference to the so-called third front or a Presidents rule), possibly the latter. I have seen enough of the Left and the TMC in my state and wonder why people vote them for Lok Sabha. The leaders continue to offer the same lame excuse of step-motherly treatment of the Centre towards the state, for their own incompetence, as they continue to oppose any policy decided by the Centre and hurting the national cause. Its appalling to see that although education remains the primary and often the only criterion for success for a kid in a Bengali household, they prefer to accept intellectual dominance by illiterate, unreasonable, shameless creatures as their rulers. Nobody would perhaps believe that this land gave birth to the renaissance during the freedom movement. Governance is a serious affair; this LS vote is going to be yet another tamasha. BJP is fighting Congress on charges of corruption, themselves having more than its fair share in the southern states. Congress knows nothing beyond a family, its goat would be holier than the national cow. Besides, it has done precious little in last 10 years, even after having inherited Atal Biharis laudable national projects. For my state, its non-performing Left versus bunch of jokers and puppets, TMC. What can I do if, instead of thinking about a rising Sun at the centre, we are happy with useless double Moons?
