Everyone that lives in Liverpool: Monday night will be the next - TopicsExpress

Everyone that lives in Liverpool: Monday night will be the next town meeting, if you can be there, please be!! We need to fight against this! Spread the word please. Heres just one post from the dicussion board. Knowledge is power people. The organization that is looking to put a halfway house at the old nursing home was a corporation under New Hope out of Scranton. Their plans are for this one to be a halfway house, not a treatment center but they referred to it many times Monday night as a treatment facility. It will house 25 men. A vast majority will be court ordered to be there. They are there for a 90 period. This will be county funded. After doing some research on President and COO, Ronald Halko, it appears he has had several personal care homes that have either been shut down or went bankrupt. The organization that is operating as a halfway house in Scranton is called Cedar Residence. Mr. Halko seems to have a history of not paying his staff and racking up bills to the point that he has to file bankruptcy or close his doors. His latest Personal Care home called Allegheny Valley Residence in Tarentum PA, closed its doors on 1/24/14 abruptly. Mr Halko filed the required 30 day notice but could not afford to pay his employees or pay for food for the elderly residents. His solution was to close the doors 9 days after the 30 day notice was filed. Staff had to find placement for these 40 some residents that day. Other facilities he has owned were forced to be closed because if constant violation, including Pennswood Manor in Scranton that was both a personal care home and halfway house and had bedbugs. Another was called Mountainside Manor that closed due to an infestation of flies, no air conditioning and a resident that had Scabies. Another called Nanticoke Villa that had an outbreak of Hepatitis B. 10 people were infected with Hep B. The Director of the halfway house in Scranton (Cedar Residence) is Tom Lavelle. Tom Lavelle has done federal time in prison for a drug ring that occurred at his bar, Lavelles Pub in Avoca. Many big names people were involved in this drug ring, including a cover up from the former District Attorney of Lackawanna County. This DA protected the drug trafficking that occurred at Lavelles Pub. From my research Lavelles Pub is still in operation and Tom Lavelle is listed as the treasure of the bar, even though he was announced to be recovering and now a director of a treatment facility. All of this information is available online. I also got some help from a reporter who pointed me in the right direction. Look it up yourselves. Most of my information came from the Pittsburg Times Tribune and citizens voice. I know we want businesses to come to Liverpool, but ask yourself, is this the right one. After you look up this information I am sure the answer will be no! Many of the articles repeated the same words we heard Monday night. They are smooth, I give them that. Dont be fooled or we will be left with a hell if a mess when they close up shop!
