Everyone, we need your prayers right now.....Meleigha is in the hospital at gateway. She had a small red and painful area on her knee before she flew out to gateway that looked like a minor infection. Just to be safe I had her go have it looked at before she left so she went to a med express wed night. They told her that it was just an infected ingrown hair and started her on oral antibiotics. Well, over the last 3 days the infection exploded. She bumped it on a chair and it opened up with icky stuff coming out. Phil took her to the ER tonight. They opened the knee, did blood work and cultures, drained the infection but left a drain tube in. She has started IV antibiotics. She was admitted to the floor and will be seeing an orthopedic surgeon in the morning just to make sure the actual joint is not affected. We should have preliminary results tomorrow from the culture. We wont know anything until she is seen by the orthopedic surgeon. she may need another surgery depending on what he says. I will keep everyone posted. She is scheduled to fly back home Monday morning,,,,really hoping she is on that flight. I really wish I was there with her right now. She said she is receiving excellent care there and that all the staff are wonderful so that is a huge relief.
