Everything I have been saying about the AKC is true...GREED ABOVE BREED! This was posted on several different FB sites by Joe Overlease. Permission to share was granted by Joe. Letter received from the AKC this morning. This just goes to show they just threw all of you guys that are small to medium size breeders under the bus. If any of you continue to support these knuckleheads with your money or your loyalty you are following the wrong path. With this being said I encourage all to drop the AKC like a hot potato, as they are not your friend. So how do like being a second class citizen now? Treachery from the AKC "So what else is new?" ------------------------- Thank you for your email and your request that the AKC pursue an injunction to halt the implementation of the new USDA APHIS rules. The AKC is studying the final rule and potential impacts carefully, and seeking clarifications where needed. We will continue to consider a variety options should further action be necessary to protect the rights of responsible breeders. Over the last 18 months, AKC Government Relations, our federal representative, and our coalition partners have worked hard to provide constructive critiques and commentary to APHIS, and to propose effective alternatives to our concerns with the proposed rule. Although the final rule is far from perfect, we are pleased that APHIS’s commentary addresses a number of the concerns expressed by the AKC. While the AKC continues to have concerns about final rule, it should be noted that this rule appears to only requires USDA licensing for people who sell pets over the internet or in other “sight-unseen” transactions. It does not apply to anyone who sells pets in a traditional “in-person” or “face- to-face” transaction. It appears to provide additional exemptions/exclusion for those breeders who wish to sell “sight unseen”, over the internet or to wholesalers but who maintain four or fewer breeding females; for breeders whose intent is to preserve bloodlines; or sell breeding, working, hunting or other working animals. We encourage you to review the resources AKC has available on its website, including frequently asked questions, to further understand the new rule, and to keep checking back, as we will continue to update this page as information becomes available. We appreciate your contacting us with your concerns.
