Everything is hard, financially, right now, thats true. Im cashing in change to make sure everybody eats, were in the hole because of the power company, and my cars brakes pooped the bed on me. Sometimes I do wonder if its worth it, trying to keep animals, trying to farm, even on a tiny scale . Im frustrated, feeling incompetent and like a failure. But then I step outside, and I hear the morning calls; the birds, the chickens, the goats. The sunlight slants through the trees and dapples the landscape. Rosa peers hopefully over the fence, looking for treats. I get cold, wet kisses in return for goodies. There are eggs in 2 boxes. Popcorn sits on my feet, demanding attention. I can start sewing again, I think, as I rub her neck, and she purrs. Aprons, Santas, kitchen towels and pot holders, and new pincushions. It will bring in a bit extra. Theres enough feed, enough groceries. I can sell some furniture that we dont need. Things will be okay. It isnt easy, but its enough, and its worth it.
