Ex-Hurricane Gonzalo will bring unsettled weather to much of the UK during the next 24 hours. As there is a threat of high winds and heavy rain, FoD Weather has issued the following alert: FoD Weather has issued a Yellow Warning for Heavy Rain and High Winds Issued 17:45 Monday 20th October 2014 Valid 00:00 through 15:00 Tuesday 21st October *HEAVY RAIN AND GALES FORCE GUSTS POSSIBLE TUESDAY* An Atlantic depression, the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo, will sweep across the northern parts of the UK during the next 24 hours. This weather system will bring the potential for a period of heavy rain overnight and at first Tuesday, and a period of high winds during the first half of Tuesday. *RAIN – Rainfall amounts of 15 to 25mm possible. Heaviest rain is expected overnight Monday and at first on Tuesday. *WIND - Wind gusts 50 mph are possible in exposure. Strongest winds are likely as rain clears Tuesday morning. *IMPACTS – With trees in leaf, the high winds will lead to some minor damage to trees. Fallen leaves may also block drains leading to an increased risk of surface water and ponding on roadways. *NEXT UPDATE – This Advisory will be updated by 22:00 Monday 20th October.
