Exactly. When you have a massive audience, do you stand up and lend your weight to the disenfranchised, like Russel is doing - risking being labelled a hypocrite - or like Emma Watson is doing - risking violence and rape threats? Or do you just get your photo taken by the paparazzi in clubs, or standing on crappy red carpets at events where the rich and famous suck each others dicks for the cameras? Whether you like this man or not (I despised him once, but hes growing on me hour by hour) he talks sense. I use facebook a lot for campaigning and for political ends, and I know it pisses-off people who just want to be witty, admired, adored; it pisses-off people who just want to post pictures of their cat, dinner, holidays or babies. But, when enough people get together on Facebook, Twitter and even the pile of pretentious excrement that is tumblr, changes can be made. Right. Im off shopping.
