Excepting tonights show at The Mix in San Antonio and returning - TopicsExpress

Excepting tonights show at The Mix in San Antonio and returning some rented gear my SXSW is done. My heart goes out to the victims, family and friends of the utterly senseless and manifestly selfish crime that took place in front of The Mohawk on Wednesday night. I dont really view what happened as being specific to SXSW but rather an unfortunate confluence of circumstance. If the man arrested is as guilty as he appears to be I hope he spends the rest of his life and jail, his name is forgotten and that he doesnt receive additional notoriety as a rapper when he is in fact simply a criminal. Beyond the news of that incident, I had a load of fun. I got to see many friends from around the world. My croaking voice says I probably played a couple of times too many. Thanks to all the following bands that played showcases I organized or co-proed: Western Star Pat Todd & The Rank Outsiders Churchwood Rice Moorehead and His Ladies The Copper Gamins-Los Niños de Cobre The Krayolas Sergio Mendoza y La Orkesta The Hares Como Las Movies The Chevelles Crying Nut BP Fallon & Ghost Wolves The Trixie Trainwreck No Man Band The Woggles Poor Dumb Bastards Billy Joe Winghead Pocket FishRmen Apache 65 Los #3 Dinners Villela Mitch Webb & The Swindles Thanks to all the staffs and owners of the great Austin venues that showed wonderful hospitality and professionalism toward the acts: The White Horse The Javelina The Dog & Duck Pub The Parlor ABGB Thanks also to Jonathon Galyon, American Icon Records and the folks at the Spider House for the super rocknroll party on Thursday. Chad Holt, a deviant par excellence, for once again putting together the madness that is the Whoopsy Austin party and again allowing me to book many friends on it. Now comes the extra special thanks, it might be a good time to get up and hit the head if youre still with me and you need to: Super merch girl and promo queen Andrea Carden -- she went way above and beyond. Shawn Michael Botella for keeping my cats alive in my absence. Brad First and the SXSW staff for their continued support of the label and allowing me once again to have an official showcase. Gilbert Gastelum at Cosmica Artists for once again co-presenting with me at SX. Super, super lady Margaret Moser and everyone at the Austin Chronicle and The Austin Music Awards. The Hickoids are honored to be Hall of Fame members. Heather West/ Western Publicity for pushing for me and mine. Andy Überalles for his cunning multi-lingual road rage epithets and logistical prowess. All of my bandmates in the Hickoids and Gay Sportscasters... my old partner Davy Jones, Golden Boy Tom Trusnovic (AKA Tony, Jabroni, etc.), Lance Farley (AKA Slopoke), Rice Moorhead, $ 3 Bill William Wise, MichaeleAnne McCarthy, Andy Thomas, Steve McCarthy and the lovely and talented Adrienne Rocha. Thanks to Jonie Hell for coming out of retirement and spelling Lance to allow us to successfully complete yesterdays unreasonable schedule. It is a pleasure to know and work with all of you. My sisters in rocknroll, the hardest working ladymen in show business (at least for one week) The Grannies. I love you fellas. THE BEAUMONTS. Good job boys. You make my brand of tastelessness almost acceptable. A Pony Named Olga. Nice to get to know the guys some and looking forward to playing some Euro dates with them this summer. All the super supporters of my bands, my label and whatever I try do out there, especially: Nanette Labastida, Jerry Clayworth, Julia Ruth, Rolinda Duby (The Fun Girls), Ashley Hewitt, Wayne Vermillion, Evan Cunto, Kay Elaine Gourley, Playback Austin Music-News, SA Rocks, Linda Rogers Vivenza, Darrell Horich, Lonnie Layman, Michael Ann Coker, Chris Casseb and super friends Bell Solloa, Marcus Wayne Trejo and my old school bud John F Stewart. I thank my haters, doubters and detractors. There is no yin without the yang, no lightness without dark. You force me to up my game and lose my complacency. In the unlikely event everyone comes to dig what Im doing it will be time to quit. Inevitably I have left many someones out. For that I apologize. Nap-thirty.
