Excerpt from 08.5.14 Pima BOS, AZ: About 80% of the votes is expected to be Vote by Mail (VBM) in the Aug 26th Primary and November 4th General Election. VBM Ballots are not sorted except inside the central hackable tabulator that could easily be programmed to only hack ballot batches over 300. By Selecting 2 precincts late Election Night after all results are published by precincts and ‘made public’ makes it almost imposable for a hacker to hack the VBM. However, Chuck Huckelberry and his bud Benny White are going all out, to stop again any efforts to make elections Transparent and Verifiable. Why would Huckelberry stop Verifiable elections you may ask? Is protecting his right to cheat in the future? Video Link to testimony Mickey Duniho & John R Brakey to PCBOS - Verify VBM has not been HACKED 8.5.14: youtu.be/4y2wBXZ9R8c • The law says the BOS is the authority in ARS Title 16 Elections and Electors; it doesn’t give the responsibility to the county manager. • State Election Director under Jan Brewer Joseph Kanefield testified that the SoS office cannot tell Counties what to do. • Chris Straub told the BOS in 2006 they couldn’t do hand counts until the new law was approved by the Justice Dept, but Maricopa was already doing them. Pima then agreed under pressure to follow the new law. • Pima County was doing hand counts for 12 years before the 2006 law was passed. • The law does not limit BOS ability to do extra stuff to ensure that elections are Fair, Honest, Transparent and Verifiable. • In 2012 the SOS election manual prescribed sorting early ballots by precinct, Pima just got a waiver (secretly, without telling the EIC) I have that on FILM • Chris Straub argued in court that releasing databases with parties would result in Chaos and Mayhem. Pima County lost the lawsuit, and Chaos and Mayhem did not happen. • In 2012 the BOS approved a recommendation from EIC to develop better hand count audit for early ballots before the 2014 election. This recommendation is a direct result of that. Transparency in government is often credited with generating government accountability. Transparency often allows citizens of a democracy through elections to control their government by reducing government corruption, bribery and other malfeasance. My friend Bev Harris of Black Box Voting dot org wrote: “Elections without public accountability are nothing more than vote-counting in the dark, controlled by a government in the act of choosing itself, but in no way a path to legitimate governance. The government can never be sole verifier of its own information.” I’m pleading with you again to make Elections Transparent and Verifiable, with what we all know anything less is unacceptable. Respectfully, John Roberts Brakey Co founder; Americans United for Democracy Integrity and Transparency in Elections - AUDIT-AZ and Task Force Leader for Santa Cruz Election Integrity Committee (SCEIC) To: Pima County Board of Supervisors “Elections without public accountability are nothing more than vote-counting in the dark controlled by a county government in the act of choosing itself and its cronies while picking our pockets.”
