(Excerpt from Pastor J Sunday message) In Matthew 26:41 (NIV), Jesus encourages his disciples to “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Jesus then goes a little farther into Gethsemane and fell on His face to the ground and prayed, ---“My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Jesus returned to His disciples and found them asleep and asks this question---“Why could you not keep watch with me for one hour?” • Couldn’t pray one hour • Couldn’t fast one hour • Couldn’t Study the Word one hour • Couldn’t attend church for one hour What a sad indictment on these disciples. • Not focus enough to pray • Not discipline enough to fast • Not spiritually hungry enough to study the word • Not committed & faithful enough to attend church Are we committed to God enough to give Him one of the most precious gifts He has already given to us TIME?
