Exciting news for long-term care consumers out of the Missouri Senate yesterday! HB 1779 passed with our amendment intact. Our amendment limits the expansion of who can authorize physical and chemical restraints to only those facilities operated by the Department of Mental Health, stand alone psychiatric units and psychiatric units of hospitals. (The original bill expanded it to all facilities.)...There is still one more step to go in the legislative process, as the House and Senate-passed versions differ, before it goes to the Governor for signature.This is one of many public policy issues where VOYCE is the voice for long-term care consumers.
