Exciting times at Tsawout First Nation! By now most of you in the Tsawout community may have noticed a new 48 Litre green Organics bin placed out in your driveway! Tsawout is very please to announce that we have rolled out Organics/Kitchen scrap collection to the rest of the Tsawout community! After the success of the pilot project, and the upcoming ban of all kitchen scraps from the Hartland Landfill in the new year, we are moving towards a new way of managing our waste at Tsawout. A list of items that are accepted and not accepted are posted on the front of each bin. However, there will be a notice out to each of you with the same list so that you can post it in your home. If you did not receive a compost/organics bin and would like to have one, or if you have any questions about composting please come and see Shauna Johnson, Tsawout Environmental Technologist or email at [email protected] or call at 250-652-9101 ext. 203. Organics collection will be the same day as the CRD blue Box recycling, every two weeks. If you need an extra bin please let me know. I welcome all feedback to make composting a success throughout the community. HISWKE and Happy composting :-)
