Exclusive: EastEnders boss on Lucy killer: Weve learned from Archie reveal EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins has promised that the Lucy Beale murder storyline wont be put on hold after the on-screen reveal of her killer. Viewers will finally find out who killed Lucy in the shows upcoming live episode, which will air during EastEnders 30th anniversary week in February. EastEnders employed the same tactic in 2010 when Stacey Branning was unveiled as Archie Mitchells killer in a special live broadcast. Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey, was only made aware of her characters guilt moments before going on air. As follow-up scenes in subsequent episodes could not directly reference the revelation, Stacey went missing for five weeks before finally being forced to explain herself in a special two-hander episode with Max Branning. Show producers are taking a different approach with the Lucy storyline so it stays on air in the aftermath of the live broadcast. Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Treadwell-Collins commented: I always think the fans need to remember that I know EastEnders and I love EastEnders. I watch it as a viewer. I was here last time we did a live episode and the Stacey reveal was very clever, but with this reveal, we can learn from what weve done in the past. Its really difficult, but that story wont just be dropped for four months. Speaking further about his plans for 2015, Treadwell-Collins said he is committed to ensuring that each family on Albert Square gets a share of the spotlight. He said: From New Year onwards, that actually happens even more. I would say the Mitchells are definitely ones to watch. Its the same with the Foxes, Kat and Alfie, Stacey and the Masoods. Its every family and were trying to balance it all. Everyone has to earn their right to be on the show. We cant just have passengers, as everyones got to play their part. Ive also got actors who are hungry. Whats lovely is they all love the show and they know it so well, so they always come up to me saying, Wheres my big story? and you just have to tell them to be patient! EastEnders will celebrate its 30th anniversary in the week commencing Monday, February 16.
