Executive Staff Goes Quite. The excuses by GMC have reached to a point, which at times confuses readers of the Evening Goulburn Post. Council’s disclosures to the press regarding the way that a recent Tendering Process was undertaken were not spot on. We would ask for Council to start giving our local rag spot on information, as the wrong information will inevitably flow into the general public. By our reckoning the tendering process regarding the multifunction centre was an unnecessary and a very costly affair. The horse has now bolted and by Council’s actions Council has separated us ratepayers with around about one million dollars of our hard earned. General Manager-Berry still appears to be wielding the big stick and at times I wonder who is actually running our Civic Centre? People had voted for Mr. Geoff Kettle to be a Councillor and it would be appropriate that, as Mayor Kettle he should be running the show. Councillors including some very long term Councillors would have all known how to determine a DA application by overturning the executive staff’s recommendations if they saw fit. We note that only recently this same lot of Councillors did in fact override the executive staff’s recommendations by not approving the Mary’s Mount Proposal. Deputy-Mayor Kirk has recently called himself and his peers “Mug Councillors” and we by comparing Councillors overall actions cannot believe that Councillors are incapable of making their own decisions by overriding staff recommendations at will. What was Council’s real reason for this costly failure
