Existence of APC threatened in Edo following allegation by some ANPP and CPC members against ACN The existence of All Progressive Congress, APC in Edo State seem threatened following alleged hijack of the new party by some chieftains of the defunct ACN in some certain areas. Efosa Uwangue reports that some members of the defunct ANPP and CPC are alleging marginalisation in the scheme of things. After the registration of the merger of the three political parties namely, ACN, ANPP and CPC into APC, the joy of the affected parties both nationally and at state levels knew no bounds as consultations and high hopes become the other of the day. Shortly after the registration, there are indications that APC in Edo State is heading towards division as allegations and counter allegations of the hijack of the party in Egor Local Government Area by some Chieftains of the defunct ACN and making the rounds. Speaking to the new screw on the genesis of the crisis some members of the defunct ANPP and CPC said trouble started when the former Chairman of the defunct ACN in Egor Local Government Council, Mr. John Aighogin and one of the leaders, Gentleman Amego organized a congress in one of the Wards when the national body has not given directive to that effect. They explained that on their own investigation, it was discovered that they extended same to other Wards with only ACN members informed on the development. The aggrieved members said attempt to confront them on the development and leading their party Chairman to write a petition on the issue to the national headquarters of APC. Debunking the claim, the former Chairman of defunct ACN IN Egor LGA said the allegations by the said members of the defunct ANPP and CPC are baseless and a calculated attempt to dent their names which they have built over the years. The former Chairman, who volunteered to on behalf of himself and Barrister Gentleman Amego explained that the process bordered on transformation, adding that all concerned were intimated on the latest development. The last may not have been heard on the issue as the members have threatened not to relent until those in charge current the alleged wrong by the ACN Chieftains.
