Exodus 3:15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. Matthew 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. God is not ashamed to associate Himself with us and thats true. He is always looking forward to say I am the God of (add your name). God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It doesnt matter the flaws in their lives, He is willing to identify with them and not only does He love to identify with them, He also is willing to identify with you. Looking at the persons involved, we see three main characters that shows who we are at differing state. Abraham, the Father of Faith. Abraham was born into idolatry. His kindred and generations before him was given to idol worshipping. They had forgotten about God but served little dumb gods. We therefore see the Lord approach him with an offer out of the life he was familiar with unto an unfamiliar kind of life, faith. Abraham simply obeyed and left all to get one, The Almighty God. There are people who are devoted to the faith, who are willing to leave all because God said it. They are willing to follow God till the end. In fact, the are pioneers of the faith life. Although they have faults in them, they are just too devoted to God and they live their lives in utmost service to God. God is very glad to associate Himself with such people. He loves and cares for them. Isaac, the child of promise. Isaac was a gift from God to Abraham. He is the basis of the beginning of Abrahams faith towards God. But God delayed his (Isaac) coming until Abraham lost his ability to produce a child. And God planted His seed in Abraham such that Isaac was born. Isaac simply walked in the steps of his father, Abraham. There are these second sets of people who were born in church. They were born to Christian parents. Theyve lived all their lives in church. They can even boast of never being in the world before or never fallen into seen. These people are good and they love God and would never disobey Him because of the exploits of their fathers or because of the atmosphere they were born into. God is very glad to associate with these sets of people. He is not just the God if Abraham, He is also the God of Isaac. Jacob, the supplanter. Jacob literarily means a cunning fellow, a trickster, or a supplanter. He at many points was gifted in the act of being cunning. He had deceived his brother to the birthright. He succeeded in deceiving his father to the blessing due to Esau. He also performed some tricks in Labans house. Yet God was willing to identify with such person. Romans 9:13 KJV As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. God does not care what you were before he met you or even the hidden things you struggle with, He is willing to associate Himself with you once you decide to come to Him. He is not just the God of the good people, He is also the God of bad people. He is not just the God of perfect people, He is also the God of imperfect people. All He demands is for you to submit to Him in sincerity. He will take all your weaknesses and build His strength in you. God is not just the God of the pioneers of churches or people born into the church life, He is also the God who wants to utterly save the sinner and turn him around for the Gospel. He is not just the God of Peter, the fisherman turned follower of Jesus, He is also the God of Paul, a murderer, sold out to persecuting the church. He is not just the God of John, the disciple that Jesus loved and loved Jesus, He is also the God of doubting Thomas who would not believe until he sees. All you need is to accept His love. He is your God and will never forsake you. Come to Him as you are and He will make you what He desires. He is my God.
