Experienced some unfortunate fish fatalities during our trip to the snow, so after the tears had dried, we bought some more fighting fish. After only one night we had another tragic loss, and by that time I figured out that actually the last lot survived from October until June...so, winter-hardy fish? maybe not so much. The last week has seen me topping up the tanks with warm water twice a day, and - I kid you not - making up hot water bottles for the fish at night. Yes, you read that right: hot water bottles for the fish. Today we bought a heat pad, thank god. Fingers crossed it keeps the bloody fish alive through tomorrows predicted top of 8 degrees.
