Experiencing mild culture shock. I went shopping for a teapot today. I didn’t think it would be difficult… I’m in the housewares section of the second major store I’ve checked. I do a quarter search. Nothing. I ask an employee if they have teapots, and she looks at me like I’ve got a toaster for a head (to keep with the small appliances theme). Her supervisor comes to the rescue – “they’re right here”. “No miss, that’s a kettle. I’m looking for a teapot.” You boil water in the bloody kettle, and then pour the boiling water over the dried leaves in the freakin’ teapot. Two separate and distinct items. The ladies are very polite, and want to help, but they’re baffled. Sigh. The funny thing is, they sell teabags, so how the heck are they making the tea? There’s a specialty shop in downtown Leavenworth. I’ll try there tomorrow.
