Experts gather and tell us that the church must make many changes if it is to survive. I wonder if they have ever read the words, The gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (The church) Success today is usually measure by nickles and noses. As I said yesterday, if what you do attracts people, it must be good. But true success is not measured by nickles and noses and numbers dont prove that it is of God. I dont want to hurt anyones feelings, but I just dont think that pulling off my tie, throwing the hymn books under the bus, and wearing flip flops, will bring down the power of the Holy Spirit. I have followed the ministries of Robert Jeffress, Charles Stanley, Adrian Rogers and other great men and they have not bowed to new fads and methods. I dont care if you sit on cushion seats, padded pews, or orange boxes, true success is measure by the number of changed lives who filter out into the culture and influence it for Christ. Our power is not in side shows and Madison Avenue gimmicks. It is in the power of the Holy Spirit. Some may like the same atmosphere they have at rock concerts, but until people repent of sin, yes, I said SIN, and experience the forgiving grace of God, they dont have anything to shout or dance about. It is my personal opinion, but there is too much levity in services today. This appeals to the flesh and those who are watering down true Christianity, but we need to be broken before God, repent of our sins, deny ourselves, take up our crosses and follow Jesus rather than Hollywood fads.
