Exponential growth in technology and automation in the workplace will bring an end to the present socio-economic paradigm. Automation will reduce the human workforce to a rump, making it impossible to purchase goods turned out at the factory gate in sufficient quantities to sustain the system. We shall be forced to consider a different way of living. I would advocate a resource based economy, where everyones needs could be met without a price tag. The system would be underpinned by science and the prevailing technology for the betterment of all humankind, not just a chosen few, which is currently the case.
