Extract from The Advertiser, Letters to the Editor Thursday, October 16, 2014 Dedicated service THE South Australian Branch of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists welcomes Kelly Vincents comments on the importance of a dedicated mental health service for people living with the difficulties brought about by Borderline Personality Disorder. These people often frequently present to acute mental health services at times of personal crisis and often with serious attempts at self-harm. All too often, our current public health system struggles with their needs. A dedicated service with a group of experts who can deliver timely care is strongly supported. We will be discussing this with Minister for Health Jack Snelling in the coming weeks to support the proposed plan for a specific service for this patient group. (Dr) MICHELLE ATCHISON, Chair, SA Branch of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, North Adelaide.
