Extremely scary moment today with the roosters. I was sitting on - TopicsExpress

Extremely scary moment today with the roosters. I was sitting on the couch doing the update on Jagger when I faintly heard something out the window. It got much louder and I realized that something was after my roosters and one was screaming. I ran out the door and saw Django right beside the porch shaking and when I looked straight I saw a orange tail by my truck. I thought it was a cat and I started yelling at it and when it turned around to run I saw it was actually a very LARGE Fox. I took off of the gate in my house shoes and ran after it all the way down the lane and into the pasture screaming like a mad woman to get the you know what out of her. It ran by the other two roosters that were scared to death already and crying for their brother. I yelled louder and ran harder so it didnt stop and grab one of them. I yelled until I couldnt see it anymore. The horses looked at me like I was insane. I ran back up to see if Django was hurt and couldnt find him anywhere. Weird thing is that the roosters never come up to the house. He ran all the way up here and under the window where I was sitting on the other side. I went across the street to tell them what happened if they saw him and got Tracy up to help me look. He was NOWHERE to be found all around the property and down to the pasture with the other two. They were still crying for him. I was terribly upset about him missing and worrying he was going to go off somewhere and die. I dont know if the vet could have saved him if he was hurt but I was going to try. These are no ordinary roosters. They were hand raised and are very bonded with the horses. I am totally in love with them. Finally after about 15 minutes he showed up in the pasture with his brothers. He seemed to be fine and no blood. When I went out to pasture with them for awhile to make sure the Fox didnt come back they stayed right with me. When I went in to change shoes they went and stayed right with the horses. I went out every so often and kept a close ear out. I knew as long as they stayed in the barn with the horses or right at their feet they were fine. I even took Bishop out to see if the Fox was still around. I let him take me where he wanted to see if he could track or not and sure enough Bish went the same path I watched him run and then to the point he went out of the fence which I could see the path he went through tall grass. When I was out in the pasture waiting for them to go night I saw a huge patch of feathers of Djangos. When he got attacked he was in the back pasture and had to run around a barn and up the lane to get to where I was at. I am just glad he was fast and I was home. This was at 1:30 in the afternoon. It is not NORMAL for Fox to come out during the day to hunt and the Fox didnt look like it had missed a meal to be that hungry to venture out. After seeing the pile of feathers I knew I needed to check him better so at roost time I picked him up and checked him out. I didnt find anything cut or bloody thank goodness. I hugged and kissed him for awhile and he just laid there and enjoyed every minute. A BIG THANK YOU to GOD for saving our baby boys, especially poor Django, who got the worst of it. We are no longer able to let them roam free during the day and I am going to be spending the day building a roaming run out of fencing. No, I have never done this but I will figure it out to keep the boys safe. Do they make rooster leashes? LOL!
