F.Y.I. - have seen many posts lately on pups ripping at their bedding. I wanted to share an experience, so no one else out there has this bad experience. Mine was 6 months old at the time ; ripped into her dog bed filled with fiber and cedar chips. She was so frenzied doing it, she aspirated some of the material into her belly, but also lungs. Vet was very concerned she was going to make it through the ordeal. When I first learned of a problem was morning after ... lethargic, no eating or drinking, and feverish. I took her immediately and they did x-rays, all kinds of testing, as when this kind of thing happens it can also affect pancreas. She lucked out - made it through without affecting other organs - but after several days of fluid hydration (out-patient). I was feeling terrible for scolding her about the bed the day it happened !! It was she that mattered most of all, and I thought I might lose her at 6 months old !!! I will never buy that kind of dog bed again ... not sure if they even still make them ... switched to all blankets for my ripper-upper temperament pups. Just FYI for rookie owners, or owners of puppies they are unsure of yet, or habitual tear-ers.
