F3 Workshop Manager, Rik Berger, busted out his mad welding skills recently to help Fiona Connor realise her piece Common Co-op Coop for Scape Public Art. He helped construct a replica of the gates that sit at the entrance to Abberley Park, in St Albans, that now sit as part of a joint installation by Fiona Connor & Dan Arps, on the corner of Tuam & High St. Fiona Connor looks at the way functional objects, such as rubbish bins and park gates have become much more visible in post-earthquake Christchurch. By drawing attention to their sculptural qualities, she invites us to consider the way they are used to create space and specific environments. Here is a video about the work:
