FA president justifies $577,500 appearance fee – Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has denied reports that, members of the management committee of the Black Stars shared $577,500 among themselves, during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Testifying before the Justice Senyo Dzamefe Presidential Commission of Inquiry, he said though the amount was meant for seven management committee members, over 20 people benefited from it. Nyantakyi, who defined management members as “all those who work and assisted the Black Stars during the World Cup”, said, the bulk sum of $577, 500, appearance fee taken from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) was meant for all management members. The GFA president, however noted he will furnish the commission with names of all the beneficiaries, though he claimed, they did not sign for the amount received. Nyantakyi expressed worry over misconceptions about the GFA and allegations of corruption, insisting “All those who are making noise over corruption have uninformed minds and should be ignored”. Mr. Emmanuel Gyimah, Ag. General Secretary of the GFA, on Tuesday, told the Commission that, he took $577,500 from MOY as appearance fee for seven management committee members of the Black Stars.
