FAITH Academy Orientation will be this Tuesday night at 6:00 at Concord Friends Meeting. The address is 5000 Old Randleman Road, Greensboro 27406. We will go over policy, procedures and rules. At that time, the students will sign up for their classes. We also need each child to bring a white tee shirt to decorate. This year we have chosen Pennsylvania Dutch Hex signs as our design. These were very popular with the farms in the northeastern part of our country. I want to remind everyone that classes this year will be on Wednesdays but the time will remain the same; 9:45 - 3. We will however, hold all of our night programs on Tuesdays to accommodate those that attend midweek church services. We look forward to seeing everyone there. We study a different period of history each year during a 6 year rotation. This year, well study the Classical Period (1750-1830). We offer a history class, art, drama, science, folk art, weaponry and new this year--literature. Art electives include: animation, Audubon watercolor, and Art of William Blake. The drama production will be The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Literature classes will be an American Girls book club and a Jane Austen Book Club. The Jane Austen class will focus on one of her favorite books and will also take a look at her contemporaries; writing assignments will be given.
