FAITH WITH WORK. Its expected that volunteers prepared nearly 40,000 rice and bean meals to send abroad. In Liberia, food is a luxury. Most of the countrys water and food products are imported. After a crippling civil war lasting nearly 14 years, the meals are few and far between. Now with Ebola ravaging communities, the situation is dire. If people are not dying from the virus, they are dying from hunger. Prayer is one thing, Weber said, but it may take some time for those prayers to be answered. This is a very tangible way we can contribute, she said. Even so, it will still take about six weeks fore the rice and beans meals to reach the Global Aid Network representatives on the ground in Liberia. Its not a quick process, but we are doing it fairly regularly, said Steve Baker, mobile events coordinator for GaIN. Ebola has effectively shut down the entire country, he explained. People are restricted by curfews, schools are shut down and theres no running water or electricity. It just makes things a lot more challenging, he said. delawareonline/story/news/local/2014/11/01/newark-church-groups-pack-meals-liberia/18337619/
