FALLACY #2 THAT NIGERIA IS BETTER BROKEN IN TO SMALLER, TRIBAL - TopicsExpress

FALLACY #2 THAT NIGERIA IS BETTER BROKEN IN TO SMALLER, TRIBAL UNITS OR NATIONALITIES. This is a fallacy of hasty generalization. Let us briefly look into case studies of SierraLeone, Benin Rebublic, Liberia,Gambia,Togo, Gabon, C.A.R etc.....and the questions are: Are they developing faster than Nigeria? Are they proportionately more peaceful? Are they more educated? Have tribal problems disappeared? Are they corruption free? Do they have system efficiency? The collective answer is NO. There is an iron grip dictatorship in Gambia. The amputees in SierreLeone are a sad reminder of the sheer arbitrariness peculiar to a small enclave. Sgt Doe to Taylor turbulent era in Liberia and the lingering refugee camps can only happen in a small State. There is a family succession in both Togo and Gabon. There is an going civil war with religious bias in C.A.R The above should show that SIZE is NOT the problem but the bad people who are definitely wealthy, in and out of government who organize, promote, finance and mastermind confusion and misunderstanding leading to fury, mayhem and large scale violence from which they invariably benefit. What a Sokoto resident and the man domiciled in Lagos want in life are virtually the same. They want to educate their ward, live and clothe well, have a good relationship with his neigbour, and have good health care..... Those who cite other differences want to explore and exploit for personal profit only. Had Ife/Modakeke recurring crisis happened in a sovereign Yoruba Nation State it would have resulted into a full scale civil war. The Yorubas will form at least 10 antagonistic republics should Nigeria break? The Ijaws can never stay united in one country. Each Clan will declare a Republic with a view to owning a particular oil field/block. The North will balkanize in to several nations. Can Imo go with Anambra? How will assets and liabilities be shared? Will landlocked nations be allowed a corridor to the Seaport? The breaking exercise will be endless and mired with boundary wars ,outright invasions, monumental suffering and grief. Our break up will be governed totally by greed! China, with 1.4billion people, and a +$10trillion economy is desperate to annex Taiwan with 25million inhabitants! There are immense advantages in having a big country that is governed well. There is a huge internal market. There is prestige. There is pride. We will rub shoulders with big nations as equals We will launch rockets and organize space adventures ..... WE NEED NIGERIA MUCH MORE THAN SHE NEEDS US !
