:: FAN CHAT :: good morning! once upon a time, every now and then, after a nicely performed concert, a fan approaches me in back stage to take a photo. Then elaborates a little conversation as such: -Fan: you looked like you were having so much fun on stage?! (Big smily eyes open) -Me: is it? Well actually youre right. We had some great moments out there! -Fan: i always envy you guys :) -Me: oh really?! And why is that? :-) -Fan: you guys, all you have to do is get up there on stage and play your guitars, have fun, get paid lots of money and go home.. -Me: aa ha..wow..And...?! -Fan: we work so hard 8 hours a day, in boring jobs and routine life. Wait for a salary to go on vacation... You are so lucky..vacation everyday, ha?! :-) [still smiling] -Me: well..you know..theres a lot to what we do than just playing a guitar on stage and getting big money (if it even happens!). -Fan: oh really..like what? Do you have to do anything else during the day? I bet you wake up like 1 or 3 pm right? hahahahaha -Me: no my dear. I wake up at 8 or 9 am at max, even after long nights work. I start by setting my mood into a good music and a good coffee for 30 min. Exercise 30 min if i feel like it, or 1 hour of guitar workout.. Then my business day starts, 4-5 hours of emails and phone calls to organize: upcoming gigs, prepare and send all files, offers, invoices needed by agents or clients...Upload newly edited videos on my networks..negotiate production or licensing deals, ..etc. then a very quick lunch break and back to the same thing till 6 or 7 pm. Unless i have to play at night then i leave home around 4 pm to go set up the stage and do a sound check. otherwise it might a few hours rehearsal evening with my band to learn new music, or a studio session till midnight to finish adding parts to some recordings...or a home session with my 5 computers to continue some graphics needed for my posters and PR or to edit videos of past shows in order to upload those the next day! -Fan: oh my God..you got to do all that yourself?! When do you sleep? -Me: well yes, every serious artist does that.. Sleep? rarely regularly, but i try to do it occasionally when i feel so tired. -Fan: wow... and how about family and friends? You see them? -Me: mmmm..they got to wait in the queue! Hehehe! well, i try to keep some time at least once a week to socialize.. -Fan: oh nooooo..im socializing every single day. Finish my work, get back home, change and get out with friends! :-) [ still smiling] -Me: thats great! Good for you! So i should envy you, no?! Or you STILL want to become a musician... -Fan: ohhhhh no no no, i was just kidding!!!! Hahahahaha -Me: alright then, nice talking to you, i got to get some rest. See you! -Fan: (still smiling...obviously confused though!)
