FAVOUR! Dear friends at the LAC I am currently trying to gather alternative media sources from different countries in Latin America. This is not precisely for my research, but for personal interest. Mainstream media in these countries is generally colluded with economic private interests, so getting properly informed about unfair situations, political innovations, and the stuff that happen at the grassroots level or is pretty difficult. Only when one is close to a particular context, one has access to good alternative media sources. I wanted to ask you guys to provide me with alternative sources from the countries in Latin America you have been close to. Maybe you could give me 3 or 4 great sources that would provide info on grassroots issues: urban poor, gender issues, local NGOs that inform through Twitter for example, etc. Anything that may give us an idea of politics and social movements in those countries from an alternative perspective. THANKS SO SO MUCH GUYS! I here share some of the stuff I know here in Chile: (I’d say they are all great to be followed on Twitter) Radio Cooperativa cooperativa.cl Mainstream, but much less colluded with the elite El Mostrador elmostrador.cl A more progressive newspaper CIPER ciperchile.cl Research journalism devoted to unveil and denounce socially relevant issues Twitter: @la_Fech: Federación Estudiantes Universidad de Chile, with everything there is to know about student’s mobilisation @Difusion_ACES: also on the student movement @GAMBA_CL: culture and politics from an alternative perspective @_LaMansaGuman: news focused mainly on women issues @prensaopal: this is great news from a leftist perspective
