WHEN By Frank Raj 31 Dec 2014 When you are clear that you cannot live a lie For you can see that falsehood is a slow death When you know that you must find the Truth Or languish without certainty of right and wrong When you glimpse what an authentic life is like Longing for a peace that passes all understanding When you think about eternal salvation and wonder Why some are sure it is free; and why they believe When you are uncertain about what you rely on But you cant give it up for custom, fear or pride When you realize lifes journey is a mistaken road That you may need to start afresh, all over again When you learn that the years the locust has eaten Can be restored by the One who calls us to trust Him When you hold back because it seems too simple For sages urge you to consider great traditions When you know your affiliation obscures the Truth Yet middlemen and religion deny you real freedom When you acknowledge life is empty without God And think you can fill it with rituals, dreams and desires Believing your mind can achieve what you conceive When the last manmade precept drops to the ground And you understand the Truth that sets men free When you discover it is not a principle but a person And you study all claims to find the credible solitary one When the finger points to the swear on everyones lips Who declares He is the Way, the Truth and the Life Will you blaspheme or receive the humble, risen Saviour?
