The result then was: tens of thousand of naturally antiseptic beech blocks were destroyed, plastic ones were installed, and food infections skyrocketed. Then a cleaning regime was instituted for the plastic boards but the bacteria clung-on in the thousands of little cuts from the butcher knives.
