FEARING GOD PT. 2 Fear God? Arent we supposed to trust, not fear the Lord? Fear isnt of God, right? In the following verses we discover the definition of fearing God, and its not what some people might think. The word fear is derived from the Greek word eulabeia, signifying caution and reverence. When a godly fear and love are combined, they constitute a heartfelt devotion toward God. To fear the Lord is to reverence, love, respect and honor Him. Theres nothing scary about that! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. PSALM 34:7 16 The wise fear the Lord and shun evil, but a fool is hotheaded and yet feels secure. PROVERBS 14:16 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.” HEBREWS 12:28-29 24 Therefore, people revere him, for does he not have regard for all the wise in heart?
