FEATURED FELINE: This lovely little lady is Millie and shes one of our long-term residents, available to adopt for just $25. Volunteer Suzanne has spent some time with this beauty and says, Many have stopped to visit Millie, but over and over again they label her as “standoffish” or “timid” because she lays patiently in her kennel. This could not be further from the truth about Millie. Millie is a patient cat, a calm cat, a cat that just takes life as it comes. She loves her pets, and head/nose kisses, and enjoys sitting there listening and ‘sharing’ while you talk to her, sometimes even breaking her silent communication if she has something she feels worth saying. She, like so many others who have spent a lot of time in the kennels, is not fond of being taken out of the kennel and tries to get back in. This is just something that happens with many of them, the kennel becomes their “safe spot” while in the shelter, but once in a home of their own that kennel is all but forgotten as they quickly learn to enjoy their new homes and so much more space to move around in. Millie is not “standoffish” or “timid”. What Millie is, is a cat who needs a home who lets her be her. That is comfortable with a cat that will lay on back of the recliner or couch and spend time with them, who will curl up on back of their beds and be content and who will, when she’s ready to, leap on their laps and get all the loving she can handle. While she would make a good seniors cat, it’s not a label I would stick on her because she could handle any situation that allows her to just be her. Please don’t overlook this beautiful cat, or any who might not be leaping and sticking paws out the front of the kennels…sometimes it’s just not their style.
