FERAL FREEDOM PROGRAM Last week we hit a milestone. June 1 2014 - TopicsExpress

FERAL FREEDOM PROGRAM Last week we hit a milestone. June 1 2014 was the first year anniversary of this landmark program in Stanislaus County. In our first year 2,038 cats left the shelter alive---spayed/neutered, vaccinated and ear-tipped. We became we named Alley Cat Allies Five for the Future programs and are setting precedent for other areas to follow. Along with this title came a $5,000 grant to be used in keeping the program going and to offset the costs of spay/neuter. With the support of Alley Cat Allies we were able we able to hold a Cats in Your Community Seminar. The really good news though, and still to be finalized after the end of the fiscal years numbers are reconciled, are the results we believe to be achieved from this program. Starting with over 2,000 cats making it out alive! Approximately 95% of the cats made it through the program once surrendered. EUTHANASIA RATE REDUCED BY ESTIMATED 4O% FOR CATS ENTERING THE SHELTER. Hoping the final numbers are as good or better than projected. We should have confirmation of results sometime in July. If you like this trend remember to thank the shelter and a handful of dedicated volunteers for making it happen. TNR SAVES LIVES!!!
