#FFE2016. Over the last 50 years of independence, Uganda has held at least 6 major elections (1962, 1980, 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011) involving the election of president and members of the parliament. In the recent past, elections have been held on a regular basis as commanded by the constitution. However, in all these cases, both winners and losers contest election outcomes. The increasing monetization of elections also creates more distortions in the elections process and have become a huge burden on taxpaying citizens.
