FICS Update: A boiler failure at the Community School today led to students being told not to attend lessons this afternoon. Shortly before lunchtime, a small fault in the central heating system at the Falkland Islands Community School was identified. A Falkland Islands Government statement says that as a precautionary measure, members of the emergency services attended, but no danger was identified. An update from Commnunity School Headmaster Martin Winward says that the school will remain closed to students until 1:30 tomorrow afternoon whilst health and safety checks are carried out. This is to make sure things are operating as normal. Mr Winward asks all Communty School staff to please convene at 1pm in the geography meeting room for a staff briefing. The Community School and Education team would like to thank all the services involved for ensuring the school to reopen as soon as possible. They would like to thank everyone for their support. Any further updates will be announced via the local media.
