FILE UNDER: IMAGINE THE WORLDS LARGEST HMO -- RUN BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT [NOTE: I cannot take sole credit for the the banner for this post -- the words were originally offered by one of my familys physicians.] While four months old, this opinion piece by The New York Times Thomas B. Edsall is nonetheless insightful. It is but a small snapshot of the scope of problems and unintended (or, not) consequences that have so far arisen. Unless you read the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, you have no idea how pervasively intrusive this single piece of legislation will be -- and, not into just the lives of the disadvantaged, as it was fallaciously sold to the public -- but, into the life of each and every American citizen. Those who choose to deny that singular fact are either ignorant of the laws details, or, willfully and blindly parrot a party line of false propaganda.
