FILE UNDER: NOT SO GOLDEN STATE . . . OR . . . A FOOTBALL REPLACEMENT??? In case you missed it, the California State Legislature, specifically the State Senate, today voted to suspend three lawmakers who face charges in separate criminal cases, after the latest one to be hauled into court refused to step down, the most serious house-cleaning action the chamber has taken in more than a century. All three, Senators Ron Calderon, Roderick Wright, and Leland Yee, are Democrats. On the same day, the Philadelphia Eagles announced they have parted ways with All-Pro and star receiver, DeSean Jackson, a native Californian, and former University of California (Berkeley) standout. Published reports indicate that the Eagles decision may have been based on Mr. Jacksons links to Los Angeles gang members. Hmmm . . . Maybe its just me, but if DeSean Jackson has a hard time finding employment with another NFL team, there might be a place for him in Sacramento . . . as a Senate Democrat, of course.
