FINAL RESEARCH CALL OUT! There is still time to get involved! We are looking for females aged between 13 and 18 years with Autism Spectrum Disorder to take part in a new research project, in association with The Autism Centre of Excellence, Griffith University. Adolescent females with autism spectrum disorder are a unique group of individuals that require specific and individualised attention. As adolescence is a time during which friendships can change and become more complicated for all teenagers, investigating how females with ASD approach and cope with the social relationships and expectations is of great interest to females with ASD, their families, and the professionals and researchers who are working to support them. Participants should be enrolled in an inclusive secondary school, have attended inclusive classes for over 90% of the time for the past two years, and be willing to discuss their experiences with social aspects and relationships associated with school. Please be assured that participant’s identity will not be disclosed in any publication of results. Participating in this project will allow participants to openly discuss their social experiences in a confidential manner. This may result in a more comprehensive understanding of how a diagnosis of ASD influences the social experiences of each participant, both individually and collectively as reported at the conclusion of the study. Participants can also be satisfied with the knowledge that they are participating in a new and highly necessary area of autism-based research. If you, or someone you know may be interested in participating or obtaining further information regarding this project, please contact Rebecca Vine on 08 83369027. Alternatively, I can be reached at [email protected] or on facebook at Rebecca Skye Vine.
