FISHING REPORT - Ken and Carole Townley 5th-17th October 2014. All fish came from the Original Lake (main lake). I cannot get interested in the small lake for some reason. It just does nothing to me. I suppose I could always fish the Point swim and have a couple of rods out in the small lake while at it, but that doesn’t seem right somehow. Bait was predominantly Blue Trigga ATS with a mixed bag of Nutrabaits shelf life – Trigga, BFM, Techni Spice and Cream Cajouser. Bait carpet was Haiths SuperSoft Robin Red Pellets while hookbaits were mainly Plum and Caproic from both Nutrabaits and UB Baits. Heavily flavoured Blue Trigga paste was used as a lead and occasional hookbait wrap. Rig used for pop-ups was the 360 using a Korum S5 size 4 hook and I also used the Reverse Combi using 25lb Hydrolink for paste wrapped bottom baits. Fished the dam wall section from the first swim on the south bank. Weather was iffy with heavy rain at times, which coloured the water and lowered the water temperature dramatically but this did not make the fishing too hard, as you will note from below. I fished days only, never more than two three-hour sessions a day with a break for lunch each day. We like our French food and the occasional glass of wine ☺. 46 x 30lb plus: 39.02 mirror 33.08 mirror 34.12 mirror 32.14 mirror 38.00 mirror 32.10 mirror 33.02 mirror 31.08 mirror 39.12 mirror 34.06 mirror 37.08 mirror 37.04 mirror 39.02 mirror 35.04 mirror 38.14 mirror 37.08 mirror 33.07 mirror 36.10 mirror 37.12 mirror 35.00 mirror 37.14 mirror 37.02 mirror 37.06 mirror 35.12 mirror 38.08 mirror 37.08 mirror 37.12 mirror 39.02 mirror – tail damage 36.00 mirror 39.12 mirror 37.08 mirror 37.12 mirror 38.00 mirror 37.08 mirror 34.06 mirror 33.02 mirror 32.00 mirror 34.06 mirror 37.12 mirror 34.12 common 33.08 common 38.00 common 36.00 common 35.12 common 34.00 common 36.12 common 7 x 40lb plus: 45.04 mirror – tail damage 43.04 mirror 40.04 mirror (Carole – cheeky bugger!) 41.06 mirror 44.04 mirror 41.00 mirror 40.08 mirror Plus 9 small cats and seven upper 20s. PLUS the fish of the trip a 26.04 koi, a fish I have been after since 1998! 70 fish landed (three lost) in a total of less than 60 hours fishing. It was wonderful to return to Le Q. after a couple of years absense. We had no idea until we got out of the car just how much we had missed the place, but absence makes the heart grow fonder so they say…And they are right! The Lodge was as ever perfect luxury with all mod cons and fantastic sunsets to boot. The chickens kept us amused while we took ‘sundowners’ on the terrace at the end of a ‘hard’ (cough) day’s fishing. As for the new owners: People who may be worried at the change of ownership need concern themselves not one jot or iota! Dan and Jodie, Patricia and Barry are the ideal hosts, perfect in every way and all too eager to make sure you enjoy a unique experience at le Queroy. The watchword here is ‘QUALITY’ and everything about le Q. is just that…the fishing, the Lodge and most important of all, the hosts. A huge thanks to you all…See you next year! ☺
