FIVE MINUTES FROM THE PASTOR TO LEAVE SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN RECEIVING SOMETHING Proverbs states a good man leaveth an inheritance to his childrens children... To the shallow mind, this equates to money or wealth left behind but the truth is much greater than things. It has to do with Character not Cash. In an age marked by getting, accumulating and greed, the enrichment of possessing real character seems to have been lost. Our Lord Jesus taught us that Being surpasses Doing that Character is much greater than things. In Luke 12, the rich fool is awakened by a voice, calling him a fool, having lots of things. But filled barns are no match for a life that is void of God. What we acquire must be left behind someday. What we have become will live on. Surely, Integrity and Character are the things we should strive to enrich the following generations with. What I may receive from my ancestors is not as weighty as what I pass on to my descendants. I must seek the Face of God, stay in His Presence and become what He wants. Thus my being will add life to my doing Ask yourself these questions...Is this church any better for my attending? Have I shown anyone a better way to live? Do I reflect anything about Jesus in my actions?? Am I better in some areas than I used to be? Do I grieve over my flaws, flops and failures? Will the folks following me, be blessed by what I have become, or cursed by it? May we all seek to become something worth following and thus leave an inheritance to those behind us in lifes struggle.
