FLOW - "One Father, One Purpose, One Voice" Friday, 12 July 2013 – Day 6 NOTE TO ARTS MINISTRY LEADERS & PRAYER FOR LEADERS & TEAM MEMBERS Leading is no walk in the park, but a God ordained leader has the grace to lead (serve) effectively. As arts ministry leaders, we should understand that individuals will come in at different levels – some may hit the ground running, some may crawl and some may not be able to walk – and we have to work with these individuals and place them where they best fit within God’s ministries. Here’s the hard part in this for some of us leaders though; we have to be strong enough to bring people to the realization that they may not have been sent to the ministries to dance, dramatize, sing etc. Yes, it is our responsibility to introduce everyone to all areas of service that are available within each ministry. The arts – especially areas such as dance, drama, mime, singing, music – can draw/attract people with hidden agendas to the ministries and by extension, to the artistes/ministers and in light of this, leaders also need to be discerning and vigilant (among other things). As we flow in our various ministries, we also have to come to the realization that we cannot do everything “all by our lonesome selves” and appoint others to serve along with us as we strive to take the ministries forward. Today let us pray not only for leaders of the arts ministries, but also for the team members as well. Pray that we as leaders will truly understand our roles and responsibilities and that we will serve our teams and also our “church” leaders in love and with humility. Pray for unity and communication that brings life – builds up and not tears down - even in the face of correction. Also pray for commitment from both leaders and team members, so that “whatsoever (we) do, (we will) do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” – emphasis added. Finally, pray that our ministries will be built on the Word of God and that our main focus will be on God and not on the arts.
