FOCUS TRENDS 2014/15 SHAPING THE FUTURE Autumn/Winter 2014/15 Darkness and light. Serenity and disorder. Nature and technology. Shoe fashions for Autumn/Winter 2014/15 are caught between contrasts. Contradictions inject freshness and innovation thereby creating a diverse fashion picture. For the most important themes of the season in ten Focus Trends: Black Matter Gloomy outlook? Not at all! Looking on the black side of things of fashion will be entirely legit from now on. The original colour standard for shoes, black in all its multiple facets and surface finishes is now becoming a real fashion must. Coatings, gloss effects, material mixes and decorative elements such as sequins, Swarovski crystals or studs exude extravagant, cool elegance when presented tone-on-tone. Colour Effects The blaze of colour dominating fashion for so many seasons now will be taking a “trend break” this winter. Though little dashes of colour will be allowed – as long as they are unobtrusive and come in soft hues like burgundy, ink blue, violet and forest green. These dark tones project a particularly exquisite look when strikingly finished with black. Shiny, brushed leather underlines the elegant and sporty statement made by shoes here. Chunky Heels Go for it! Massive, chunky heels will give court shoes and bootees a modern, progressive twist next season. Sporting contrasting colours and eye-catching zebra or gold looks, these chunky heels make a fashion statement that is hard to overlook. Especially trendy: a combo of feminine, pointed lasts and chunky XXL heels. Long live contrasts! Heavy Grip Sharpen your profile! This motto will especially apply to soles and heels next winter, ensuring a “firm grip” with voluminous looks and distinct textures. Tank, rock, shark or jigsaw – the range of rugged sole profiles is as wide and varied as ever. Stylish, stable and non-slip, this footwear is perfect for making an unmistakable mark on the wintry fashion jungle. High Bootleg Aim high! Skinny pants and miniskirts have a new best friend. High-legged boots are now making their entrance at “vanity fair”. Clean-cut, they even go one step further in terms of leg height. These long newcomers should at least reach up to knee – and over-knee boots are also back – when presented in high-quality leather and the trend colour black, they are even quite respectable. Bootie Pumps Clean, sophisticated, no-frills: bootee pumps are the fashion must-haves of the season and the perfect complement for pencil skirts, shift dresses and skinny pants. These elegant boots score points with their straightforward, clear-cut looks and filigree, mostly high heels. Less is more is the credo when it comes to details. Matt/dull and two-tone effects create the suspense here for these pump-bootee hybrids! Quilted & Embossed Watch out fashion victims! 3D effects plus quilting, floral and/or graphic stitching all revive the surfaces of boots and sneakers. Even that legendary Chanel-style lozenge-shaped stitching is making a comeback. With either rock chic flair or elegant charm – the famous diamond stitching could well become a “girl’s best friend”. Zipped & Chained Grunge, rock, punk. The influence of the music scene on footwear fashions is impossible to overlook. Studs have gradually passed their peak. Next winter’s stars are chains, zippers and clasps – preferably XL in shiny metals to decorate boot legs and handbags. Speaking of metal: gold is now set to soar in popularity while silver and gun metal still defend their fashion rankings. Furry Things are getting hairy. The motto “fur for all intents and purposes” applies not only on colder days. Fur is conquering the fashion scene as a decorative element and does not even stop at boots. It can be clipped or shaggy, real or fake just as long as it is warm and fluffy – so cuddle up in the new fashion styles! Contrasting Materials Unconventional! Patterns and materials team up here in a surprising and light-hearted way. Animal prints, especially zebra and snake, but also floral and graphic patterns, are mixed without restraint. Radiant colour contrasts make for exciting highlights in this otherwise quite dark fashion picture. Source: GDS / Global Shoes Düsseldorf
