FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Family of Erika Avila will be holding a VIGIL today at 10am at Presbyterian Hospital in memory of their daughter who died as a result of a c section surgery conducted at Presbyterian Hospital on December 3, 2014. The Story Erika Avila had a healthy pre natal pregnancy no complications, no infections, no medical issues. On December 3, she went to Presbyterian Hospital to have her baby. On December 3, Julian Avila was born, healthy and vibrant. On December 4, Erika is posting on Facebook sharing her baby pictures for the world to see saying I am Happy... During this time she begins to start feeling sick with vomiting and she calls Presbyterian complaining that she was ill, had no bowel movements and could not urinate. Presbyterian tells her to come to Emergency Room and she does. She returns to Emergency Room at Presbyterian Hospital and was given a cursory review after 45 minutes vomiting and complaining of severe pain. Emergency Rooms evaluates her for less than a hour and sends her home with pain pills. No X Ray, No Pet Scan, No MRI was conducted on Erika Avila. Two days later Erika continues to complain with sweats, more pain and vomiting again She then decides to go to Medical City, where they diagnosed that she had a perforated intestine and that her interior body was contaminated, Septic Shock set in. She died a day later. 30 years old, mother of two Children Daughter Sister and friend to many who were present at her overflow funeral yesterday.
