FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE On December 29, 2014 at approximately 3:55pm, a report was received that a person was involved in an accident on a dirt bike and was unconscious lying in a field on Chester L Rd. and South Fifth St. near South Pekin. Tazewell County Deputies and South Pekin Police responded. Upon arrival, a male subject was found lying in the field next to an irrigation system approximately 1 mile North of Chester L Road and .5 miles west of South Fifth St. The victim appeared to have lost control of his motorcycle and struck the tower of the irrigation system. The victim was transported by life flight to OSF in Peoria, where he later died from his injuries. The victim has been identified as Dewayne H. Appleyard, age 25 of North Pekin. This Accident is still under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff Office.
